News

Well, the three of us have some big news to share!

I wish I could say that it was a family expansion project :), but it is a relocation mission.

This Memorial Day weekend we packed our bags and drove to central Vermont to meet with the board and congregation of First Baptist Church of Barre. We had a pleasant time with everyone there, asking and answering questions of each other and sharing over a meal.

Sunday morning we joined them for worship and Craig preached his candidating sermon on the Great Commission. You know it was a good sermon because Sam went right to sleep. We carried him out still asleep while the members remained to cast their votes.

We had barely reached our car behind the building when we heard a wave of applause. Sam's eyes popped open again. A minute later, a phone call brought us back inside.

An unanimous call. A new home.

Craig gave a quick word of acceptance and then we were launched in this new direction!

Please pray (if you believe He answers) that we can find the right new home, get everything packed up, and unpacked and settled by July 1!! There's a lot to do.

2013

Sorry that I haven't updated here in such a long time. Here is a quick intro to what's in store for us this year:

Craig has been offered and has accepted a one-year part-time pastoral position with the First Baptist Church of Exeter, New Hampshire. He will be Pastor of Family Life. The church is able to bring him on thanks to a grant for urban church renewal. Exeter might not be the most "urban" place we know, but we are thankful for this opportunity for Craig to begin formal ministry!

One of the goals of Craig's ministry is to invite young families to FBCE and build a family-friendly atmosphere. I am very thankful that we qualify as a young family ourselves now. :)

We are also looking forward to this weekend, as we will be heading to a retreat center for Overseed's annual conference. We're one of 10 couples going to be there for encouragement, training, networking, and fellowship. I am personally so excited because I've been cooped up at home recovering from my surgery for the last three weeks. I am starved for some adult interaction!

Sam's blog

I would imagine everyone has heard, but just in case you missed it, we had a son on September 9th! His name is Samuel Haddon Ray. His name is inspired by the biblical figure and his mother's story, and by Charles Haddon Spurgeon, one of Craig's favorite preachers.

I've set up a separate blog for Sam and updates specifically about him. Plus pictures. I want to keep posts about him more intimate and personal, and this blog isn't the best forum for that.

I'm also making the blog about our son private and by invitation/permission only for his protection. Too many random people out there can just click on whatever they want!

If you would like to be added to the reader list, please email me at briannacraigray@gmail.com or comment on this post (with email address) and I will add you and give you the blog address.
