The Truth
We want to clear any residual confusion about our little announcement yesterday:
That really was our sonogram pic up on Facebook, it really was taken on Feb 9, '12, and we really are expecting a baby! We found out on New Year's Day and it was so hard to keep that news to ourselves! We have made it safely through four months already. (I can hardly believe it!) My due date is September 7th.
The shadow over our happiness is that this is our second baby. We lost our first baby around 10 weeks of pregnancy, almost two years ago. I have spent every day with this baby remembering that it should not be our firstborn, that I should have a 14 month old causing chaos right now. Yet I am so thankful for a second gift of life and for the little milestones we continue to reach, reassuring me that history does not have to repeat itself.
We will be able to update everyone again soon after our next appointment in about a week. I'm looking forward to more pictures!
So that was our little "prank." We thought it was funny and hopefully you did too.

Back Again
I suppose I should update this again. I think it's been a while. Now it's September, my birth month, and one of my personal favorites. October may be slightly better, mostly because my hockey season would begin. Not this year. :(
August was a month of miles. Tuesday the 9th I took off with my friend Robin and the 4 boys that come with her. They're a riot, by the way. We drove by Ford SUV from New England to Tulsa, OK so they could have grandparent time. I really did have fun hanging out and talking with Robin in the truck, helping the boys get snacks, drinks, lunch, go swimming at hotel pools, switch dvd's, find Buzz, break up fights, play peek-a-boo, and generally be a big sister? auntie? something with them for four days in a row. Love them.
After a night's rest in Oklahoma, I snuck on a plane (standby) to Minneapolis to see my family. My cousin got me a discount and my dad ended up covering it, so it was a free flight for us! That'll beat the bus any day of the week.
So I arrived at MSP Friday the 12th and got a ride home from my dad. My dog actually barked at me; it was kinda funny. Then she just went nuts. It took over a week for the newest cat Klaus to get used to me. He's a pansy. My little Kitty almost jumped off the ground for a hug. Love that cat. Wish I could have brought her out here with me. She also spent every night but one on my bed with me. Sigh.
Here's a quick outline of everything I got to do with my family and friends:
Sat. evening service with all four of us at BBC, then supper at Matt's Bar, laughing with the amazing server, Renee, who keeps the entire place happy by herself.
Lots of relaxing on the farm, sitting on the deck, mowing lawns and helping do chores, cleaning up a garden.
Got to see my uncle Ivar and his partner Lynda; it was good to reconnect with them, been too long. They came out to help brainstorm a pond/fountain in the front yard.
Shopped goose-neck trailers with my parents and the dog for a couple days. Ended up in Rice, WI; they bought a trailer, I got a free *pink* hat. Then on the way back home we scoped out a hay rake and bought that too. We had to borrow a neighbor's Bobcat to unload the rake because it only fit on the trailer sideways. Glad to see that I can still work the iron. Such a useful skill!
Visited my old church and my old community group. Also got to go out to eat with the CG early on in my trip. Some friends are forever.
Horseback riding and team driving: brushing, saddling, harnessing, riding, driving. Miss that too.
Hung out with my brother just watching TV, commenting, clicking around, and laughing.
Most importantly, I spent a few sweet hours at a very special place on the farm. Part of our heart is buried on a hilltop in Minnesota.
Early on Tuesday the 23rd I flew back to Boston, and was trying to figure out which trains to take to get home when Craig called to say he got off work early enough to come get me. Two weeks apart: it was good to be home again.

Getting Ready
1. For camping/beach trip this weekend! I will be hanging out with two awesome ladies at a camp and at the oceanside for the weekend. It's supposed to be 100* so. I might die.
2. For my parents to be in town for 3-4 days: my dad on business and my mom just for fun. It's a little hard to plan things to do and places to go when we're so new here ourselves.
3. For work: Craig successfully transferred his CDL-B to Mass. so he can drive here (despite the MN gov shutdown!). Plus, he was hired at Scott's Lawn, but that won't start for another week or so.
So life will be a bit crazy for a week and then it seems it will be more normal than it has been for over two months.

No jobs, just dreams
Apparently the economy is improving? Apparently we missed that ride.
Craig has driven a school bus for something like four years now. I haven't had a job in my field ever. (Shoulda gone to heavy machine school instead of Bible school...) We are really starting to long big time for a family but we have no idea how God will orchestrate all these things, because they sure haven't been added yet! He has faithfully provided for all our needs to this point, even for my medical bills from back when, and this new car that will pass the MA inspections.
We continue to send out applications and emails and resumes and letters. Blah. I'm more of a farm girl; I wish we could just have a cow and chickens and grow our own food and forget this working stuff.
Cows don't ask for 3-5 years' experience.
