Back to Work

So far the two of us have been fancy free for the last month or so, with (almost) no responsibilities. Which can be fun but a bit rough on the bank account.
I have found a start-up business/ministry based in Chicago that will give me work to do from home. This job is pretty much exactly what we have been praying and searching for, so we're very thankful. There is no guaranteed income from them, since it is a demand-driven thing, so that would be a topic for further supplication... however, I have lived 27 years without being in dire want, so I have confidence that God will continue to provide.
Craig is still job hunting and calling and waiting, so it will be great to have some money coming in while we wait for his work to come.

Here are some pics from our visit to Craig's family last week.

Elm Street

After two and a half weeks of searching, we have chosen an apartment and secured it with a deposit. It's a smallish 1 bedroom in a 4 unit house. There are 3 single professionals living in the other apartments, and it sounds like they hang out together from time to time, so it could be a fun place.
The landlord is going to have the floors redone and everything repainted before we can move in, so we have at least another week before we can start to get settled here.
We are thankful that we don't have to keep searching, and now we can focus on job searching.

Funny things

We've seen some odd and unusual things in our first week here:

1. Police presiding over each and every road construction site in town.

2. Some traffic signals blink yellow, just for fun.

3. Drivers in the through lane stop unpredictably for left turners, in the opposing lane!!!  Still freaks me out.

4. There are trees everywhere. The Great Plains truly were.

5. Craig says there are more biker chicks here than anywhere else he's been.
